TDA is excited to announce upcoming events in the TAFETalks series.
Registration for these events is free! If you cannot attend the event live, register anyway and you will receive a link to the recording.
TAFETalks provide a virtual platform for TAFE staff and other interested VET stakeholders to come together, to share, learn and create connections across institutes and states and territories on current issues and priorities.
TAFE staff are strongly encouraged to attend events and to participate fully in the Q&A sessions and group chat, however, TAFETalks are open to all interested stakeholders.
TAFETalks: Navigating assessment and integrity in the age of GenAI

Session Description
Join us to explore the evolving impact of generative AI on integrity and assessment. Dr Lenka Ucnik from TEQSA will outline TEQSA’s national AI guidelines for Higher Education and their relevance for TAFEs. You will also hear from Dr Jenny Game from Chisholm Institute, who will share strategies to ensure assessment security and learning outcomes in AI-rich environments. Finally, Dr Hayden Park and Dr Elly Thomson from Melbourne Polytechnic will present findings of their recent study on AI-generated feedback in teacher education, highlighting its benefits, risks and practical implications.

Dr Lenka Ucnik
Dr Lenka Ucnik has had over 15 years of experience working in the higher education sector. As the acting Director of the Higher Education Integrity Unit has been actively involved in the team’s work around gen AI to provide support and guidance and facilitate sector-wide uplift.
Dr Jenny Game
Dr Jenny Game is a scholar, academic leader, education designer, performer, and composer. She has lectured in music and held academic leadership positions at universities and private higher education institutes throughout Australia and is currently the Deputy Dean, Teaching, Learning and Scholarship at Melbourne’s Chisholm Institute. Her current research related to teaching and learning includes distributed academic integrity leadership, learning design for assessment assurance and links between narrative identity and learning dispositions to support student well-being.
Dr Hayden Park
Dr. Hayden Park is a Lecturer in Education whose research interests centre around STEM & science education and the use of technology in learning, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR) technologies. Dr. Park also maintains a keen interest in all aspects of behaviour support within educational settings. His PhD focused on the use of virtual reality to help pre-service teachers learn about School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), while his current research relates to the integration of generative AI into educational contexts.
Dr Elly Thomson
Dr. Elly Thomson is the Head of Program for the suite of Education degrees at Melbourne Polytechnic. With a rich background spanning kindergarten, primary, and higher education, Elly’s work is dedicated to advancing early childhood education. Her teaching and research focus on building collaborative partnerships with families, integrating new technologies, and ensuring the provision of high-quality initial teacher education. Elly also contributes to national education policy and accreditation through her work with regulatory and professional bodies.
