New website connects health workers and employers in the Grampians region – Federation TAFE

Federation TAFE has launched a new online one-stop-shop for healthcare jobs in the Grampians region to help tackle local skills shortages.

The Connecting Health Careers website offers an example of graduates, educators and industry working together to address skills shortages in the community.

The website is supported by the Skills and Jobs Centre at Federation TAFE in Ballarat, in partnership with six of the Grampians region’s healthcare providers.

Helen Cooper, Grampians Region Health Work Readiness Program Manager said: Recruiting healthcare staff in regional areas is always a challenge, and this has been highlighted by workforce shortages during the current pandemic. This portal will bring TAFE students ready to embark on their professional career together with hospitals in our region.

“It displays local job opportunities and information on further study pathways as well as a comprehensive advice for jobseekers and employers.”

The website enables students to browse job opportunities and create and upload their resumes and offers information on the pathways towards health careers, along with practical information on writing resumes and interview tips.

It also provides the region’s healthcare providers with recruitment, on-boarding and human resources support.

A community noticeboard provides regularly updated information relevant to employers and prospective employees in the sector.

Executive Director Federation TAFE Barry Wright said “The past three months have shown us how important it is to ensure that our healthcare industry has access to well-trained graduates. It is equally important for pathways to be available to graduates who wish to work close in the regional areas where they live. This website offers a link between the two.”

The Connecting Health Careers website was funded by the State Government of Victoria’s Grampians Region Health Work Readiness Program under the Workforce Training Innovation Fund. It is available at: www.connectinghealthcareers.com.au.
