TDA submission on impact of Foreign Relations Bill on TAFEs
On 3 September 2020, the Senate referred the provisions of the Australia’s Foreign Relations (State and Territory Arrangements) Bill 2020 and Australia’s Foreign Relations (State and Territory Arrangements) (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2020 to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 5 November 2020.
The legislation would require that all arrangements between state and territory governments and their entities, and foreign governments and their entities be approved by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Noting the impacts that this legislation may have on TAFEs which enter into an array of agreements with foreign governments and their related entities in support of Australia’s national interest, TDA has provided a submission to this inquiry which can be viewed here.
