Federal Government announces JobTrainer skills package for economic recovery and growth

TDA welcomes the federal government’s latest skills and employment package, announced on 16 July 2020, which will be good news to apprentices, trainees, job seekers and employers as Australia navigates its way back to economic prosperity following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $1 billion JobTrainer package aims to create approximately 340,000 free or low-cost training places for school leavers and people looking for a job. The Commonwealth will contribute $500 million, to be matched by a further $500 million, split among the states and territories.

An additional $1.5 billion will also help to keep apprentices and trainees in work and training. Read TDA’s full media release here.
